Planning for Success in 2020

Planning for Success in 2020

As we wrap up 2019 and head into 2020, many people may look forward to making a fresh start. We all want to be happier, or more successful, or find love in the New Year.

Success means different things to different people. One person might want the stereotypical mansion on the hill and a fancy car, while his friend’s idea of success is to live frugally and do his art all day. Others just want to find the love of their life, or get healthier and lose weight.

Regardless of your goal, there are several ways you can stay on track throughout 2020 and make your dreams come true. Here are eight tips for traveling the road to success in the New Year.

Keep a Journal

Keep a journal to record your thoughts, feelings and creative ideas. Write in a stream of conscious, free-form way. Use lists, recall the bizarre dreams you had last night, or a conversation you had with a friend. A journal is cheaper than seeing a therapist and will help you discover new ways to achieve your goals.

Always keep a notes app on your phone or a small paper notebook with you. Don’t assume that you’ll remember something later; jot ideas down as soon as you have them.

Brainstorm the Right Plan

Every person is unique, and what works for your best friend or Significant Other may not work for you.

Develop a plan geared around your personality, interests, and lifestyle. Remember that you can always change your plan around if you find that your intended modus operandi isn’t working.

Set Small, Manageable Goals

A set of definite goals will help you think more clearly.

Don’t feel you need to achieve your goal in a few months or a year. If you feel you have to attain your goal quickly, you’ll become frustrated. Instead, write an overall goal and several bite-sized goals beneath it. Listen to successful podcasts if you want to start your own show. Take notes on what guests you’d like to have on your show, then shop around for microphones and other podcast equipment.

It’s important to concentrate on each step of the process if you want to succeed. If you want to lose weight, set an overall goal and weekly goals. In weight loss, as in other plans for the new year, successfully completing each step will guide you to your ultimate goal.

Manageable goals for weight loss include:

  • Writing a master list of fresh, non-processed groceries to buy
  • Learning how to cook quick, healthy meals
  • Researching vegetarian and vegan restaurants in your area
  • Joining a health club or amateur sports league
  • Jogging in the morning before work

Putting together your sub-goals is like combining the pieces of a puzzle to get the whole picture.

Once you attain one sub-goal, move on to the next goal on your list.

Work on Your Goals Every Day

Once you decide on your goals, take action to see them through. If you set a “start date” for your dreams sometime in the future, you’ll lose momentum.  Work on making your goal reality as soon as you think of them. If you want to be a singer, start taking classes or sing along with your favorite songs at home for an hour a day.

Avoid excuses. If you want to start a business, but don’t have capital, use credit. If you don’t have enough credit, get investors interested in your idea. Can’t find investors? Think of a business you can start with little to no cash, like direct sales or pet sitting

Take action on your goal every day. Even if you’re busy with work or family responsibilities, don’t set your plans aside, even for one day. If you only have 15 minutes to make phone calls, send emails, or work on other ways to attain your goals during a given day, use that time. Every minute counts.

Meditate and Reflect

Meditate in the morning to clear your mind for the day and again at night to unwind.

On Sunday night, reflect on the week’s progress. Make any necessary alterations to your plans. You may find that you need to try a different tactic to get to your goal, or slow down for a bit and let your journey unfold naturally for a while.

Find your Tribe

No one succeeds without help from the right people.

Write a list of your friends, neighbors, relatives, and co-workers. Could only of them help you achieve your goal?  What sort of people do you need to meet to grow your business, lose weight, or sell your creative project?

Make connections online, in person, and over the phone. Even though it’s easier to send potential contacts emails than meet them in person at a conference, face-to-face meetings reveal a lot more about your ideas and your talent than texting or Skype-ing ever could.

Practice Self-Discipline

It’s hard to follow through with plans when you have bills to pay, a family to raise, and constant distractions. However, if you’re dedicated to your goals, it will be easier to spot and avoid time wasters like browsing the internet or scrolling through endless Instagram feeds. Use the internet or social media to promote or research your idea (or keep in touch with family and close friends.) Several apps will turn off the internet or block social media for you.

Stay busy working toward your goals by using reminder notes, posting positive sayings by your desk, and working with a like-minded companion. If you have at least one person who shares your vision, it will be easier to avoid distraction.

Stay Healthy with Wheatgrass to Achieve Your Goals

It takes energy and focus to work toward success. If you always feel sluggish and scattered, it’ll be harder to achieve your goals. Eating junk food on the run and living a sedentary lifestyle saps your energy and causes health problems.

You’ll feel better if you eat fresh, whole foods and exercise regularly. (Here’s a guide to shopping for healthy foods at the grocery store.)

Even the most carefully-planned diet may not give you all the nutrients you need to sty healthy.  Take a wheatgrass supplement to ensure you get all the vitamins and minerals you need daily. Wheatgrass contains hundreds of enzymes as well, and over a dozen amino acids.  For focus and energy, REVV Natural Energy Supplement combines wheatgrass, B-complex vitamins and memory-boosting periwinkle herb to improve your stamina and achieve long-term goals

Take care of yourself, and you’ll have the clarity and energy to make 2020 one of the best years of your life.
